In achieving and maintaining the strong, glossy and beautiful hair we all want, our diet plays a major role. While using brilliant hair supplements and topicals is a must, we must make sure that we give our locks the foundation they need by eating the right foods. Humble and comforting dishes can often be a deliciously secret weapon, and you’ll find nothing better in this regard than curried cauliflower soup. This hearty soup packs an amazing hair health punch. Here’s how the simple yet mighty soup can help your tresses, and how easy it is to make it part of your regular diet.
Cauliflower: The Unassuming Hair Superstar
Cauliflower is often written-off as a pretty boring vegetable, but it’s a fate that’s totally undeserved! It’s a nutritional powerhouse considered to be a superfood by many health professionals. It’s packed with wonderful goodies that contribute to great hair health:
Cauliflower is a good source of biotin. This is a key hair vitamin that stimulates keratin production, the protein that makes up hair, skin and nails. Without biotin, hair can become brittle. But the body doesn’t produce it naturally, and doesn’t store it for long, so you need to constantly incorporate it into your diet. Folate, another B-vitamin in cauliflower, is important in healthy cell growth. This includes the cells that make up hair follicles and the scalp! When you eat curried cauliflower soup, you’re giving your body a great B-vitamin boost.
Magical Vitamin C
Vitamin C is a vital nutrient that plays a role in many important bodily functions. It is essential for the body's ability to repair damage, as well as fight off infections and other illnesses. And your hair and scalp need it too. Vitamin C aids the production of collagen, which is thought to be used by hair cells to produce keratin. Collagen also helps to maintain the elasticity and hydration of the skin, including the scalp. And again, our friend the cauliflower is a great source of this crucial nutrient.
It's Not All About Cauliflower
While the cauliflower is the star of the show, the array of tantalizing spices and other ingredients in curried cauliflower soup aren't just there to add deep flavour. They also provide several hair health benefits:
This amazing bulb is renowned for its antibacterial properties and studies have shown it can help your liver eliminate toxins. These qualities promote a clearer skin, so good news for your scalp. A healthy scalp is essential for healthy hair.
Inflammation can spell all sorts of trouble for your skin and hair. It can cause problems like acne, eczema and psoriasis, and it can also fuel hair fall. A key ingredient in curried cauliflower soup is ginger, a proven anti-inflammatory. By reducing inflammation, ginger can help maintain healthier skin and hair.
Cumin is a natural source of iron, which is a vital part of our diet, as it promotes oxygen delivery to the cells and tissues, including hair follicles.
Curried cauliflower soup is a delicious way to deliver these amazing ingredients into your body. And it’s so easy to make!
